

2008 Peking University Summer Chinese Language Programterms & conditionsApplication & Payment:Completed applications must be received by May 20, 2008 with a US$200 non-refundable deposit made payable to CLERC. There is no guarantee that space will be available through this date. This fee will be credited against the total cost of the program. The balance of the payment should be made by May 20, 2008. Cost:The cost of the program includes expenses incurred in China for transfers, transportation, living accommodations, tuition, registration fees, a meal stipend, and predetermined group sightseeing activities. The cost does not include international airfare, airport taxes in China, visa, personal and baggage insurance, tips and gratuities, and personal expenses such as excess luggage fees, laundry, postage, communication, or other expenses incurred by individual. Cancellation and Refund Policy:CLERC reserves the right to cancel the tour prior to its departure for any reason. In this event, CLERC will refund any deposits and/or payments without obligation. In the event of cancellation by the applicant after confirmation of application, DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CLERC. Refunds will be made according to the following schedule:

Refund will be: No refund will be given to participants who break from the planned itinerary. If the participant requests withdrawal during the program due to illness or accidents, the refund will be subject to the consent of Peking University. Participants are responsible for obtaining valid travel documents. No refunds will be given to those participants who are unable to travel with the tour due to failure to obtain such documents. Responsibilities of all parties:1. CLERC acts only in the capacity of an agent for participants in transportation, sightseeing and hotel accommodations. All coupons, receipts and tickets issued by CLERC are subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the suppliers. CLERC shall be exempt from any liability for loss or damage to property, injury of persons, accidents, delays, irregularities or other occurrences beyond its control, neither will it be responsible for any loss if the tour itinerary or means and timing of transportation should be changed due to unforeseen circumstances. 2. Prices are subject to change. CLERC reserves the right to adjust the listed price at any time should there by an inflation in the exchange rates of Chinese RMB and US dollars or any increase in the cost of whatever portion of the program. 3. Should weather or other unforeseen circumstances cause delays before the departure date, CLERC reserves the right to postpone or cancel the program and any loss or additional expenses incurred shall be borne by the participants. 4. During the program, should there by any unexpected delays in the original itinerary due to political reasons, weather conditions, and /or any other reasons beyond the control of the sponsors, Peking University which conducts the program, reserves the right to alter the itinerary as necessary. Any additional expenses incurred shall be charged to the participants. 5. Participants must strictly abide by the laws and regulations, promulgated by the Chinese government as well as their immigration and custom offices. CLERC will be exempt from any responsibility for penalties arising from violations of the laws and regulations on the part of the participants. 6. Any and all complaints must be submitted within 14 days of the conclusion of the program for timely investigation. Complaints submitted after 14 days will not be valid. The Chinese Language Education & Research Center, a division of the Chinese Culture Center of California, is a non-profit organization that has been engaged in cultural exchange programs between China and the United States since 1990. It promotes Chinese language research, instruction & learning in the United States. The summer Chinese language program at Peking University is one of the major educational exchange programs it offers to scholars and college students in the United States. |
